The South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) Foundation will host its 16th Annual Townes Award Dinner Wednesday, March 5, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center beginning with a Google-inspired cocktail reception at 6 p.m.
Held annually, the Townes Award Dinner celebrates achievement, vision and leadership in research, development, education and business. The award is named for Dr. Charles H. Townes, South Carolina native and Nobel Laureate in physics. In 1964, Townes received the Nobel Prize for his work in quantum electronics leading to the invention of the laser. For more than a decade, the GSSM Foundation has recognized businesses and individuals who go above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to implementing innovative research, development, technology and business in the Palmetto State.
Tickets are $125 and are available by calling 803-252-9152.
