Four GSSM Graduates Named Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Recipients
Four Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) 2010 graduates have been named Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship recipients by the South Carolina Department of Education. They join 102 students from across the state in earning the award, which promotes academic excellence using federal funds. -

Alumni Association Seeking Board Nominations
The SC GSSM Alumni Association is seeking nominations for eight (8) Board members. Alumni can nominate each other or themselves to serve a 3-year term that begins July 1. A ninth board member will be an Alumnus from the Class of 2010. The Board should be representative of the diversity of the Alumni Association, with members who represent various class years, geographical areas and interests. The deadline to nominate a board member candidate is May 7. -

For Rui Jiang '07, French class in high school seemed more like a "fun" class to throw in the middle of her challenging science courses. Having only taken one semester before attending GSSM, it hadn't occurred to Jiang that French was a language she would ever use in her daily life. -

Nathaniel George Myers III, GSSM ’07, has been selected to receive a $5,000 scholarship for the 2009-10 school year through a partnership between Cisco, a global networking company, and the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME). -
