The South
Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) Foundation is
proud to announce its newest team members.
On January
3, 2011, former Foundation development manager, Pam Altman transitioned to
alumni relations manager, Jennifer McCormack joined as grants coordinator,
Caroline Quillen stepped in as development manager, and Lindsay Burke Szeszycki
started as public relations and marketing manager.
“I feel confident that these new
additions to our team will enhance the fundraising and marketing efforts of the
Foundation, which will help us to reach our goals for the school more effectively,”
said Kim Bowman, CEO of the Foundation and executive vice president of
strategic direction for GSSM.
A South
Carolina native, Altman is a 2001 graduate of GSSM, as well as a graduate of
the University of South Carolina, where she majored in biology. She has worked
with the Foundation since August 2009, serving as development manager. Prior to
joining GSSM, Altman worked in development for Richland County Public Library
as development assistant and EdVenture Children’s Museum as senior development
associate. As alumni relations manager, Altman will cultivate GSSM alumni
relationships and encourage alumni participation in future GSSM endeavors.
Originally
from Tryon, N.C., McCormack is a graduate of the University of North Carolina
at Charlotte and is currently pursuing her master’s in public administration at
the University of South Carolina. After graduation from UNCC, McCormack worked
with the American Heart Association in Columbia, S.C. Most recently, she served
as a grants associate for Albion Research Associates in Columbia, where she
wrote grants for local non-profit organizations. In her role as grants
coordinator, McCormack will support all grant writing efforts on behalf of the Foundation.
Quillen was
born and raised in Columbia and is a graduate of the University of South
Carolina. She brings nearly eight years of fundraising experience to her new
position as development manager. Quillen also began her career with the
American Heart Association as special events coordinator. Most recently, she
worked as assistant director of development, corporate and foundation relations
for the Columbia Museum of Art. At the Foundation, Quillen will be responsible
for developing corporate relationships and growing financial support through
fundraising efforts.
A native of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Szeszycki graduated from the College of Mass Communications at the University of South Carolina, where she studied public relations. She began her career in New York’s Capital Region as an account executive at Shorey Public Relations. Deciding she missed the South too much, Szeszycki returned to Columbia in 2007 as communications specialist and spokesperson for Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. As public relations and marketing manager, Szeszycki is responsible for promoting the efforts of GSSM and the Foundation through media relations, advertising and the development of marketing collateral.
