Business Advisory Council Profile: GE Energy
June 16, 2008
The South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) Foundation created the Business Advisory Council (BAC) in 2001 to fund a variety of important initiatives such as scholarships, classroom technology and new program development. Now, more than 170 businesses, individuals and organizations across the state support GSSM annually through the BAC.
After several years of supporting the Summer Program for Research Interns (SPRI), GE Energy joined the BAC in 2007 at its highest level. In addition, Rick Stanley, vice president and general manager of GE Energy Engineering, sits on the GSSM Foundation Board of Directors.
"GE is pleased to support the GSSM BAC and the important work that GSSM performs. Preparing the best and brightest South Carolina students for future careers in engineering, technology, medicine and the sciences is key for GE to meet its business goals. This next generation of leaders will solve some of the worlds biggest problems, from global warming to affordable health care. Through the outstanding efforts of GSSM, these future leaders will be ready for the challenge."
